Jays and crows can pose a problem at feeders when you want to invite the smaller birds. Putting a wire cage around the feeder with holes large enough for the smaller bird but not large enough for the jay and crow often works. Many places sell such feeders. Hanging decoy owls in trees can detour the jay and crow because the owl preys on the jay and crow. These tactics may or may not work depending on how determined the clever and intelligent crow and jay seem to be.
