Oregon - recommended vaccination program for cattle' calves, heifers, breeding cows, bulls

Asked October 12, 2019, 1:15 PM EDT

The question is as above, what is a vaccination program for cattle Oregon state. Extension services from other states provide such recommendation, why not Oregon? Please do not tell me to work with veterinarians because there are not many " Food animal" veterinarians in the state or my county. I have learnt to count on myself and Dr. Google, DVM. This would help greatly. Thank you.

Hello,

OSU Extension Beef Cattle Sciences has a Beef Management Guide with a generic list of the many vaccinations you could possibly need. Here is a link to that - https://extension.oregonstate.edu/sites/default/files/documents/9276/beef044-management-guide-beef-c...

However, only a veterinarian that knows your specific circumstances can tell you which vaccinations (and other medical needs) is actually recommended for your cattle. Sorry you are having difficulty getting that information from you local veterinarian. Bailey Veterinary Clinic and Parkway Animal Hospital in Roseburg used to provide a handout with the local recommendations . Try walking into those businesses and asking for a copy.

Here is a link to the Douglas County / OSU Extension Service Website for more information on livestock and forages agriculture. https://extension.oregonstate.edu/douglas/livestock-forages

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thank-you,
