newly planted fruit trees and sudden cold

Asked October 9, 2019, 8:43 PM EDT

We just planted some (10 gal.) apple trees about a month ago, so they really are not established yet and they still have leaves. Will this sudden cold before they are dormant hurt them? Is there anything we can/should do-like wrapping the trunks and/or the tops?

This recent cold snap was unfortunate. Make sure on warmer days to winter water these new trees (give them a good soak when temperatures are above 50, use your hose and be sure to disconnect) and hope that they will survive these drastic conditions.
