35 Year Old Sequoiadendron giganteum

Asked October 9, 2019, 2:53 PM EDT

St. Lorenz School in Frankenmuth, Mi. has a 35 year old Giant Sequoia tree on it's property. The tree is about 35 ft. tall and appears to be dying. I donated the tree many years ago and am trying to find someone who can determine what is wrong with it and if it can be saved. Is there anyone in your department who can help us and Yosemite Sam, as he is so affectionately named? My phone is 810-278-2450.

We have had a couple of samples from Sequoia trees over the years that had a foliar disease. I would suggest you send a sample to MSU Diagnostic Services www.pestid.msu.edu to see if they can determine if it might be a disease problem. There is a fee for this service.
