Does anyone need my black walnuts?

Asked September 30, 2019, 11:59 PM EDT

I’ve been cleaning my yard of loads and loads of black walnuts and am looking for a place to donate them to ( but prefer they be picked up). Right now I have a large trash can full.

Hi - Yes, the Maryland Forest Service is looking for donations of walnuts to grow and plant along creeks, rivers, and streams as part of the state’s tree-planting program. Here is information about their request and the drop-off locations. https://news.maryland.gov/dnr/2019/09/26/maryland-forest-service-seeks-black-walnuts-2/?fbclid=IwAR0...

This is amazing but Fredrick and Washington County are very far from me. Do you know anywhere close to Baltimore City I can bring walnuts to?

Hi -- No, we are not aware of a similar program close to Baltimore City. You could try calling the Baltimore City Forestry Department and see if they will take them. https://bcrp.baltimorecity.gov/forestry
