Thank you for your question. This looks like one of the California kingsnake morphs, possibly the banana variety . I don't know how familiar you are with snake morphs, but for quite some time snake breeders have been breeding snakes with certain genetic traits to produce so-called "designer" snakes. These snakes have abnormal colors and patterns. Some morphs, especially new and popular ones, can be quite expensive.

If you caught this one in the wild, it most likely escaped from someone's collection or a shipment of snakes. Another possibility is someone simply got tired of it and released it.
