tree watering

Asked September 27, 2019, 7:25 PM EDT

In light of the lack of water in the Anne Arundel County area when should I stop watering the trees (25 years old) in my yard ? They are losing their leaves and have turned almost all golden in color. They are maples.

Anne Arundel County Maryland watering plant care trees

We are in a drought period right now. You should water established trees and shrubs that are important to you. In general, it is good to keep an eye on the weather conditions and how they are affecting your plants. Don't wait until symptoms are severe. Some initial signs of water-deficit stress in plants are wilting, yellowing, early fall color, and/or browning leaf tips (scorching).
