What are these two tall plants

Asked September 26, 2019, 6:13 PM EDT

Hello, I am not sure what these tall plants are. They are in the front of my home and get a lot of sun in the morning. They have recently begun to show blooms so don't think they are weeds, but could be wrong. I have seen honeybees buzzing around Plant One (with the purple/blue blooms) Thank you. MD near Sligo Creek Park.

The first plant with the blue flowers is called Caryopteris.
See here: https://www.finegardening.com/genus/caryopteris

The second plant looks like something in the aster family, perhaps the white heath aster.
