I live in Westminster, MD. Is it too late to plant grass seed this year?

The best time to plant grass seed is from late summer to mid October. If you have full sun to part shade, plant turf type tall fescue cultivars. If you have shade, select fine fescues. Hard fescue is recommended. See recommended cultivars. https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/topics/seedingsodding-lawns

See our website on lawn care, soil testing, fertilization and the U of MD fertilization schedule.

If you have not had your soil tested within the last several years, results give pH, liming, and nutrient deficiencies. https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/topics/soil-testing
