White flies are ruining our indoor garden. Need help!

Asked September 16, 2019, 12:00 PM EDT

Hello All, My husband and I recently built an indoor greenhouse. It has raised beds, a watering system, and ventilation. We grow lemons, limes, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, mint, various flowers and vegetables for home use. We have been dealing with whitefly problems for 2 years now. I've looked online and read and tried everything suggested: commercial preparations, homemade preparations, yellow cards with petroleum jelly on them, washing, spraying, throwing out the plants. Nothing has worked. This year we have an all-out infestation, seems like thousands of them on just about everything. Its getting bad just to walk in there and work on the plants. We probably should be wearing masks. Of course, our plants are a disaster: sticky, black, dying. We have air circulation with fans and screened windows. My guess is the whiteflies can fly thru the screens. Any suggestions would be deeply appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello! Whiteflies can be a real pain in the neck. Every greenhouse grower struggles with them at some point.

Based on your description, I don't think there's going to be a simple solution to your problem. I would love to learn more about the situation and I suspect that talking on the phone will be far more efficient than written text messages. Give me a call this week at your convenience.
