white needles on Red pine/Norway Pine

I have a few pines dying from the top down. There are clumps of needle turning white and dying. What is the problem and can I do anything. I have seen a few on a couple of other pines as well

There are many diseases (and insects and other disorders) that cause needles to change color and die. I might not be able to make an accurate diagnosis, even if you sent me photos. So I'll direct you to this diagnostic site:
