What is this critter?

Asked September 11, 2019, 9:20 AM EDT

My daughter found this rather large caterpillar looking bug this morning. She's a rather curious child and as such I try to help her find the answers she seeks. Today this large greenish pinkish caterpillar (?) has me stumped! Is it poisonous? Friendly? Should I kill it with fire? Help! Lol

I do not know what kind of caterpillar this is. Most caterpillars turn into moths or butterflies. The caterpillars with hairs or spines can cause a rash or a stinging. If you look at pestid.msu.edu you will find directions for either sending your specimen for identification or sending a photo for specific identification.
