Last longest = longest bloom time? Or last longest = greatest long term vigor?
For longest bloom time, I'd suggest planting different varieties with early, middle and late bloom times.
As for long term vigor, even the supposed hardy 'Darwin' varieties need to be replaced every few years. The 'Species' varieties might be the closest to true perennials. Some people simply replant every year.
