Really severe azalea lace bug damage in my new yard

Asked September 5, 2019, 9:24 PM EDT

I just moved to a new house and thus became the caretaker for a heavily landscaped but rather unhealthy back yard. There are 8 or so azaleas with extremely heavy damage from lace bugs. Given the time of year (September in the NW) where do I jump in with treatment? Soaps? Oils? Other insects? All of the above? Can I prune right now to reduce density? Thanks!

Thank you for your question. We are all dealing with a challenging pest for which there are few answers. Here is the best I can do: http://hortsense.cahnrs.wsu.edu/Search/MainMenuWithFactSheet.aspx?CategoryId=1&SubCatId=4&PlantDefId=3&ProblemId=782 Good luck!
