Winterizing the Actinidia Kolomikta in Atlantic Canada

Asked September 5, 2019, 1:02 PM EDT

Hello, I have recently transferred a two year old male and female Hardy Kiwi into the ground and am wondering if I should wrap them for the winter? I live in Atlantic Canada right on the Bay of Fundy where winds can reach as high as 20-30 mph on an average day and 90 mph in a storm. The temperature usually hovers around -10 to -20 with storm temps as low as -30. Do you think I should put a protective cover over the two 1.5 foot plants this winter? Thank you.

Thank you for writing about your kiwi. Since I am in Ontario, I suggest you contact the Atlantic Master Gardeners directly at . They will direct your question to a Master Gardener who lives in your area.
