Is there a way to have a canning recipe tested for safety?
I have a favorite salsa/relish recipe that isn't currently noted as "safe" - is there a way to pay to have the recipe tested so that I know if it is safe for water bath canning, and how to tweak it if it is not? If so, how much would something like this cost and how long would it take?
OSU Food Innovation Center, located in Portland offers product testing and guidance for product development. Their main goal to is help producers get products ready for market, but the same services can help determine if a product is safe for canning at home.
