White Oak & Willow Tree Issues

Asked September 4, 2019, 11:36 AM EDT

We have two white oak trees in our front yard that have dropped at least 1/2 of their leaves and minimal (comparing from previous years) acorns. In our backyard, close to a county ditch, we have an enormous willow tree that looks 1/2 dead. We are wondering if these issues are due to high water or overly wet soil? The willow tree is about 20' from a county ditch and the ditch has been relatively high this year. If these issues are due to wet soil, will the trees recover next year or once the area of the tree is dead it is done?

One a portion of a tree is dead, it will not recover. I think your situation with the oaks and the willow need an on site visit from an arborists. You can find one by going to this web site and clicking on Find An Arborist. Once you fill in the location and zip code, a list of certified arborists in your area will appear. http://www.treesaregood.org/
