Unknown Blooming Vine on Fence

Asked September 1, 2019, 9:10 AM EDT

I am trying to identify this plant. It is on several of the fences in my neighborhood. I want to remove it from the fence and yard. Is it poisonous? Should I wait until end of season to allow pollinators to continue feeding on it? Thank you

Hi - This looks like sweet autumn virginsbower. It is a non-native invasive vine. https://www.marylandbiodiversity.com/viewSpecies.php?species=3018
We do not have any information indicating that it is poisonous. You can wait until it finishes flowering, wear gloves, and remove it before it spreads seeds. You will have to dig out the root system. It is a perennial and will return from the root system.
