When and how do I prune this plant for winter?

Thank you for your question. You don’t need to prune your canna lily. You can wait until cold temperatures cause the leaves to turn brown. In the meantime, they are storing food through leaf photosynthesis, so you have a healthy plant next year. Then, just follow the instructions in this Extension article: https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/overwintering_tender_garden_plants Good luck!
