rhododendrum in failing health

Asked August 25, 2019, 10:25 AM EDT

I have a large (8 feet high and 15 feet wide) rhododendrum in my front yard, near my house. It has multiple branches. In the past two years, the leaves have thinned out, the blooms are sparse and the leaves are hanging limply. I have not done any work nearby that would have disturbed it. It is at least 35 years old. I would appreciate any suggestions with regard to diagnosis of the problem. Thanks,

Thee may be several reasons for decline of the shrub. Please send us photos of the rhododendron so we can see what you may be dealing with. Send photos of the whole shrub, around the base, and affected foliage and branches.
