Have a group of honeycrisp and zestar trees . This particular honeycrisp tree this year barren on multiple branches. Applied granular Bayer Advanced insecticide and feed at base and watered.

Without closeups of damaged leaves it’s hard to determine if it looks like insect damage. It would be unusual for an insect to defoliate some branches and leave others untouched. Could those branches have suffered winter damage? Have you done a cambium test to see if the branches are still alive? Dead branches would be more consistent with winter damage.
