Blight on a mature maple tree

Asked August 23, 2019, 10:50 AM EDT

My “perfect “ maple tree went from green and healthy looking to totally brown and dropping leaves within 10 days. My neighbor ‘s tree did this about the same time last year. Is there’s blight in my area? Anything I can do?

We need a little more information in order to help you.

Is your tree dead? Are the branches dry and brittle, showing no green under the bark when you scratch a smaller branch or twig?

Is your neighbor's tree now dead? (Not recovering from last year.)
Has anything changed in your vicinity?

There is no blight that is suddenly killing maples. It would be very helpful if you could attach a photo of the tree, showing the entire tree, and also one of the tree base. If there are any green, or partially green leaves, a photo of those close-up would be a help.
