What is this Wild flower plant

Asked August 13, 2019, 6:12 PM EDT

Hi - I found this flower in a garden of the home we purchased last year. The home sits in a rural area and was originally part of land bought in the 1850s. Trying to redo gardens with native plants. Can you tell me what this plant is. Thank you so much! Kathy

Hi Kathy.
It looks like an Asclepias tuberrosa, butterfly weed; a very good plant for pollinator.
Here is a link to the Missouri Botancal Garden which can tells you lots more about it.

Good luck with your native garden plans.
