Controlling buttercup

Asked August 13, 2019, 1:16 AM EDT

I have a problem with buttercup in pastures. What is the best way to control this weed without killing all of the clover? I know over grazing is an issue in the horse pasture but in others not so much.

Unfortunately it may be impossible to control the buttercup chemically without harming other broadleaf plants such as clover. Early spring application of a broadleaf herbicide such as 2,4-D, dicamba, picloram, etc may provide some control of buttercup without killing all the clover. Good pasture rotations will aide in suppressing the plant by leaving tall/thick grass residue.
