Our HOA has about 20 acres of dry meadows (in various common areas) that are infested with cheatgrass. We are in Camp Sherman, in Jefferson County. Since the major portion of those common areas also have our community water wells, we do not want to use pesticides. Our soil is porous and the water table is not protected by any rock formations. What do you recommend? We intend to re-plant the areas in native bunchgrasses and flowers. THanks Kathy Reynolds
the only way I know to control this pest other than chemical is a very competitive desired crop or labor intensive manual/mechanical control. I am attaching a couple of links for information that may give you some ideas about what to do in your situation.
