Pink goo on crepe myrtle

Asked August 9, 2019, 4:41 PM EDT

I found a pink gooey substance on lower trunk of my crepe myrtle. I've had the tree for more than 10 years. It is in a garden of closely packed ferns and pachysandra. I couldn't find any information on the Internet. Can you help me? Thank you.

Please send us photos of the substance on the trunk so we can see what you are dealing with. Send photos of the whole tree, the trunk area, and around the base of the tree.
