Red Oak woodchips

Asked August 5, 2019, 10:03 AM EDT

We have lost 5 Red Oaks. We will burn the logs. What should we do with the branches and wood chips. Will using any of it in the garden spread the disease?

I am assuming you lost your oaks to oak wilt? It that is the case, then burning the logs is the best course of action. And if the branches and tops are chipped, they are no longer able to spread oak wilt. So, using the chips in the garden or anywhere in the yard is just fine.
