apple trees, bad apples disposal?

Asked August 4, 2019, 7:58 PM EDT

I have a newer apple tree (less than 8'tall) that I didn't get sprayed soon enough so it has worm holes, distortions in the fruit. Can I simply pick all the apples, throw them away and avoid a generation of bugs hatching or is it too late for that?

Yes. Sanitation can help reduce populations of apple maggots and other insects that damage the fruit. Pick up and trash any apples that fall during the growing season and after harvest. Do not compost them.
