New Concolor Fir (Abies Concolor)

Asked August 4, 2019, 3:47 PM EDT

Hi! We planted this tree in May and it's not doing well even with regular watering. How can we tell if it's dead or just suffering transplant shock? Twigs break in half easily, but there is some green under the trunk bark. Any helpful information/suggestions are most appreciated. Thanks in advance. Rosemarie

I'm sorry, but your tree did not survive the transplant. It could have been from a lot of causes. The trunk will soon turn brown, too. Many nurseries will guarantee your tree for one year because this happens sometimes. If you are doing your own planting, we can supply you with proper tree planting recommendations. Fall is a good time to plant trees so they can get established before the challenges of summer begin.
