Do you happen to have closer photos of the plants? Typically we need to see details of the flowers and foliage arrangement in order to make an accurate ID.
From what I can see, it is possible that these could be a type of meadowbeauty (Rhexia sp.). See photos on the following page for comparison. https://www.marylandbiodiversity.com/viewSpecies.php?species=1589

If that's not a match and you can get closer photos, we would be happy to take another look.

these are the only photos i have this was right as you get on the trail on the lowest levee of the C&D canal on the Coast guard side going north. sort of looks like the ones i saw but not really..

Another possibility to look at would be Mimulus sp. https://www.marylandbiodiversity.com/viewChecklist.php?genus=Mimulus

If this is not a match either, we really would need to see closer details of the flowers and foliage.

the flower is more flat like a vinca

If you can go back and get closer/clearer photos of the flowers and foliage, that will help us with identification.
