Maple tree

Asked July 24, 2019, 8:05 AM EDT

I have a maple tree that is starting to change to red now. It’s just slightly changing, but the other exact same tree we have is not. What does this mean and is there something we can do to help it?

It means it is probably water stressed. Either it is not getting enough or it is getting too much and the roots are rotting. Check the soil under the tree when it is dry to a depth of two inches water it. Remove grass from under the tree and put down mulch. Depending on how pronounced the leaf color change and how valuable the tree is evaluation by an arborist would be beneficial. Even with a photo it is not possible to check the roots in an online service.
