Common milkweed garden

Asked July 23, 2019, 2:21 PM EDT

Have lots of beautiful common milkweed this year, but no catepillars or butterflies. This is my 4th year and I have always had great results and many butterflies, except fo this year. Could the wet season and strong winds have anything to do with this years outcome?

We do not have specific reports on the monarchs. It is possible that the wet spring weather, diseases, natural mortality, etc. may have played a part. We have had some reports that larvae were spotted in June in some areas. However, in past years we have seen monarchs much later in the season. So be patient.
