WAZZZATT???? (Lawn toadstool)

We have fungus (Toadstool??) in our yard that we have never seen before. Curious if you guys know what it is. It's a little larger than an orange, spherical in shape with spikes as shown in the attached picture. Thanks! Bob in Kathy in Bend

This is Calvatia sculpta, the sculptured puffball. It is a relative of mushrooms, but does not have gills. When the spores mature to a brown, powdery mass, it opens and they are dispersed.
