Japanese beetle control on rhubarb

Asked July 21, 2019, 9:09 PM EDT

Hi, what is the best way to control Japanese beetles on rhubarb? Can I use malathion or is there some other pesticide/insecticide that can be used? Thanks.

You can’t use malathion because it is not labeled for food. With pesticides the label is the law if a plant isn’t on the label the pesticide can’t be used. If you wish to use a chemical the fact sheet lists control measures, chemical and non chemical.. https://extension.umn.edu/yard-and-garden-insects/japanese-beetles#when-to-manage%3A-start-early%21-1591110
