Can you help us identify the bug in the following picture? It’s eating our grapes and roses. Also, what is the best way to prevent them from eating our plants?

These are Japanese beetles. The populations are growing exponentially, and not only do they feed on roses and grapes, but also on approximately 300+ other types of ornamental plants, trees, vegetables and fruits.

Unfortunately, Japanese beetles will continue to be a problem. Homeowners may need to begin deterring them in landscapes by reducing the plants that are attractive to this damaging insect. The CSU Fact Sheet below is good information read and will also help you in learning how to fight this insect in both destructive stages: larvae and adult.
