How much antibiotic is typically added to poultry feeds as a growth promotor?
We are trying to design a chemical analysis of chick and layer feeds collected in Africa, and it would be helpful to know typical gram/kg dosing of such feeds.

The use of antibiotics as growth promotors is no longer permitted in the United States. Low levels of antibiotics are used, however, to prevent necrotic enteritis. It depends on the type of antibiotic (typically bacitracin since it doesn't require a vet prescription) and the concentrations. It is very product-specific.
