What is this bug?

Many of them flying around our outside deck.

It appears to be a Sphecid wasp. They are solitary wasps that hunt a variety of insects and spiders to stock their nests as food for their larvae. Mud daubers are in this group. They are relatively harmless though there sting is painful. If you accidentally pin one, it will sting to defend itself.
