What insect did I see trying to get into my house?
In appearance, the insect looked like a large roach, roughly 2" in length, tan in color and with long antennae. There were four or five lighter tan/beige circular spots on the insect's back. What was that thing? I've never seen one of those before. Thanks! Eileen, Catonsville

We will need to see photos in order to identify the insect. You can attach up to three photos to this reply.
Thanks, Christa. m In wasn't able to photograph it, bit in looking at images online, the closest I found was the ivory marked beetle. I thought the markings on the back of my visitor, though, were irregularly placed circles on the carapace rather than ones that were symmetrically positioned. Is this beetle common in Maryland? Thanks!
Yes, they are here.
They are attracted to porch lights etc.
Even if they were to get in, they can't live indoors and are harmless.
