River Birch losing leaves

Asked July 15, 2019, 12:02 PM EDT

Would it help to install watering tubes at the base of the tree to allow more water to get to the roots? I was considering pvc piping.

Hello! I wouldn't necessarily recommend doing that. You don't want to damage the roots. Most tree roots are in the top 12" of soil. A drip system would work well. The key is to water longer per session and once or twice a week rather than lightly every morning River birches do lose some leaves in summer heat. I hope this helps.

Great info. I will try the drip line.
