I have a berm designed to create privacy with a neighbor. It pretty shady but maybe an hour or two of direct light. I have some scrubs that are doing well but only a foot or two high. I would really like to put in something that gets maybe 6 or seven feet high and would have thick foliage and would do well in a lower light environment. What would you recommend? Any dwarf lillacs that are hardy? Thank you

I'm going to direct you to an excellent publication called "The Best Plants for 30 Tough Sites". Page 31 has a full list of shade loving shrubs and page 32 has a list of small trees. Many dwarf lilacs are hardy to zone 3, I believe they like plenty of sun though.
