What’s on the underside the raspberry leaf?

Is this the pupa of a butterfly attached to the underside of a raspberry leaf in the attached photo? If so, can you identify what species?

That is a pupa of a monarch butterfly. Unfortunately, it has been injured or attacked by a parasite, and it will not live to become an adult butterfly.

Thank you for the information. Sad to learn it won’t live. We have been expanding our milkweed stand on that side of the property and have quite a few Monarchs in the area; first time seeing a pupa on the raspberries.

The monarch larva often wanders a good distance from its host plant before forming the chrysalis.
