Sycamore trees

Asked July 6, 2019, 9:51 PM EDT

We live in Las Vegas and our 17 year old sycamore tree is dropping leaves like crazy this summer. We have drip irrigation for trees as our yard has artificial turf. Is something wrong with the tree? What can we do? As you can see lots of leaves and they were swept up earlier today.

Depending on the conditions in Las Vegas at this time you may not be providing enough moisture for what the environment is taking out of the plant through respiration. It would be advisable to see if you could soak the areas where the drip system does not water once a week. With the artificial turf, it is difficult to know how much moisture is available for the trees to use. These are large trees with large root systems. If the drip is only at the base of the tree this would not be adequate. It would also be advisable to check the leaves for any type of insect damage that may be occurring.
