Suffering Aucuba

Asked July 3, 2019, 4:17 PM EDT

Hello. I have had a full bed of aucuba that has been doing well for many years. The pictured bed was thick with plants last year at this time. This year, half are gone. The picture shows how they are fading branch by branch. Is there anything I can do?

Please send us close up photos of dying/yellowing leaves (not already dead ones.) so that we can give you a better diagnosis. Also, photos of the base or anything you see that looks out of the ordinary on the failing trunks/stems.

Has anything changed in that area? Was an herbicide applied along the fence on either side? Or uphill from the shrubs? Any pesticide?
Did you have standing water in the bed last year (when we had abnormally high rainfall) or was the soil saturated/soggy for long periods?
