Baby bird nest in my hanging flower pot

Asked July 2, 2019, 12:01 AM EDT

The baby birds are living in my hanging Flower Pot inside a nest. The weather is hot and humid in Chattanooga,Tn. I am worried the direct afternoon sun will kill these birds. The flower pot is drying up and the flowers are drying up too. This is causing the Sun to really be direct sun and heat on a this nest. I see the parents come and go. I water the pot from one side lightly. Should I get a new flower pot with little fresh blooms and transfer the nest inside to give them some better shade? I’m worried about them.

Hello,

I would definitely not move the nest. That would likely result in the nest being abandoned by the attending female. You could hang some type of shade cloth to reduce the amount of direct sunlight if possible. If the eggs have hatched, the young will fledge soon.
