Unknown prolific weed

Asked June 30, 2019, 11:16 AM EDT

I have a property on the Bay that is between two marshes, and the weed pictured is one that is only seen in a few yards and none as invasive as in mine. I initially tried to remove it and finally had to give up and just mow it along with all the other weeds and very little grass. Can you identify it for me? Thank you,

We see several weeds in the photos. It looks like there may be two types of weeds in your photos but we cannot say for sure. We cannot identify them accurately as we cannot see the stems and the leaf arrangement on the stems, root systems,
there are no flowers, etc.

You did not mention if you sprayed an herbicide on the weeds. The yellowish weed may be Virginia buttonweed. The yellow color comes from a virus. See the link from Virginia Tech and look at the identifying characteristics https://weedid.cals.vt.edu/weedimg/653

The weed that has green foliage may be Arthraxon hispidus, jointhead arthraxon, small carpetgrass.
See links from Virginia Tech (also describes look alikes) and the Maryland Invasive Species Council for identifying characteristics
