On a patio

Can you put an arborvitae on a condo patio?

That depends on the exposure of the patio, both summer exposure when the sun is high in the sky and winter exposure when the sun is low in the sky if you intend to leave it out year round. Filtered sunlight would be ideal but hard to find in Denver where oftentimes we find either full sun or full shade - sometimes on the same day.

Drying winds could be problematic if the condo is in a high-rise, but so long as the sun isn't too intense and you can supply the moderate water the plant requires, give it a try!
