Plastic mulch in our farm fields

Asked June 24, 2019, 8:33 PM EDT

Many people in the Rogue and Applegate valleys are concerned about the alarming amounts of plastic mulch being used in our farm fields, especially the hemp fields. Do these all end up in our landfills at the end of the season? Is there any business that takes them for recycling? Are any of the plastics biodegradable? And, if so, do we know whether they contaminate the soil? I would appreciate any information you can share. Thanks! Marina
