pruning aspen trees

Asked June 21, 2019, 1:11 PM EDT

We have 3 clumps of aspen along our front patio of our Arvada, Co home that are about 30 feet tall (8-9 years old). The heavy and wet spring snows have caused several trunks to fall completely and had to be removed. In addition, two other trunks now lean/bend heavily to one side. We are concerned that any strong winds or snow will now topple these as well.
They are too tall for us to stake. Should we have a professional prune/top these two bending ones to reduce the weight or likelihood of that happening?

If you are concerned about these trees, you should consult a certified arborist for advice. We recommend you go to www.isa-arbor.com to find a tree care service.
