Weeping willow tree

Asked June 20, 2019, 1:57 PM EDT

We have a very old weeping willow tree, shortly after we moved here lightening hit the top of it and several neighboring trees. Now the bark is falling off and it looks sickly, but its still alive. Should we just cut it down or is it a chance it will come out of it. i just love that tree the neibors say they think its at least 100 yrs old.
