Fertilizing apple trees

Asked June 19, 2019, 10:57 AM EDT

Is it good to routinely fertilize my apple trees? Some years they bear lots of fruit, and other years very little. Is this a natural situation?

What you are describing is normal for an apple tree. They naturally produce heavy apple crops on an every other year cycle. If your tree is in the landscape and you fertilize your lawn, you need not fertilize the tree.

Thank you, Barbara, for the advice. It is very helpful.
